Klaviyo Flow Setup for Shopify and Ecommerce Brands

Klaviyo flows are the automated emails that send when a customer does something: joins your list, leaves a checkout, buys for the first time or goes quiet. Set up properly, they earn revenue every day without anyone pressing send.

I design, write and build Klaviyo flows for Australian ecommerce brands, and fix the ones that were set up once and never looked at again.

The core Klaviyo flows every store should have

1. Welcome series

Triggered when someone subscribes. Introduces your brand, delivers any sign-up offer and moves new subscribers toward their first purchase.

2. Abandoned checkout

Triggered when a shopper starts checkout but does not finish. Usually the highest-earning flow in the account.

3. Abandoned cart (added to cart)

Catches shoppers who added a product but never reached checkout, a larger group than most brands realise.

4. Browse abandonment

A gentle reminder to known subscribers who viewed a product and left.

5. Post-purchase

Order thank you, product care or how-to content, review requests and a well-timed cross-sell. This is where repeat customers are made.

6. Win-back

Re-engages customers who have not ordered in a while, timed to your typical repurchase cycle.

7. Sunset

Quietly removes long-term unengaged profiles, which protects deliverability and can lower your Klaviyo bill.

Depending on your store, I may also add back in stock, price drop, birthday, VIP and replenishment flows.

What is included in a flow build

  • Flow strategy mapped to your customer journey and product range
  • Email copy written in your brand voice
  • Branded, mobile-friendly email templates
  • Conditional splits for first-time vs returning customers
  • Smart sending, filters and exclusions so customers are not over-emailed
  • Shopify, WooCommerce or Squarespace integration checks
  • Sign-up form review and Spam Act compliant consent
  • Testing before anything goes live, plus a performance check-in after launch

Already have flows? Get them audited

Many Klaviyo accounts have flows that are switched on but broken: discount codes that expired, filters that exclude half the list, or a welcome series still promoting a product you discontinued. A flow audit finds these quickly. Request an email audit.

Pricing

Flow builds are scoped as defined projects, with hourly rates from $80. You will get a fixed quote after a short call or a 60-minute strategy session.

Frequently asked questions

Which Klaviyo flow should I set up first?

Abandoned checkout and welcome series. They reach the shoppers closest to buying and typically earn the most per recipient.

How many emails should each flow have?

Usually two to four. A welcome series can run longer if you have a strong brand story or a considered purchase to explain.

Should I put a discount in my abandoned cart flow?

Not always. Leading with a discount can train customers to wait for one. I usually test a reminder first and save any incentive for the final email.

Do you work with Shopify stores?

Yes. Most of the flows I build are for Shopify stores, but I also work with WooCommerce, BigCommerce and Squarespace Commerce.
